The Exquisite Surface: Painting on Tile
In this fun and comprehensive class, participants experiment with multiple techniques for decorating, drawing, and designing on flat tile. Students at any level will be able to enjoy this class because coaching is individualized according to need. We use commercial bisque tile so that participants feel more free to experiment in the varied techniques of surface decoration. A variety of undercoats, glazes, tints, etc. are provided for this class. Everyone comes away with a workbook, which includes a visual history of tile painting, display ideas - and best of all - at least 7 to 10 finished decorative art tiles to proudly display.
The class is taught by Joanne Gigliotti, an exhibiting artist, printmaker, tile painter, and experienced and enthusiastic art teacher, who loves to bring her students to a new level of artistic achievement through individual coaching.
This is a jam packed 2 half day workshop, and each class lasting 3 hours. It gives us time to review what we did last time, explore new techniques, send our new work in for firing, and to prepare for next time. There will be a one hour session scheduled about 1 week later for a pick up of final work and comments from the instructor.
The price of the class includes supply and firing fees, and should be paid to VisArts during registration. A few art supplies and items from home, and some good ideas are all one needs to bring. The class will be listed in the VisArts Course Catalog.
